This morning’s green smoothie came together quite easily.
My avocado was now ripe so I was able to use it as the centerpiece for a
nutrient- rich, creamy smoothie.
Avocado provides B vitamins and vitamin K, vitamin C, vitamin E and potassium.
They also contain phytosterols and carotenoids, such as lutein and zeaxanthin.
About 75% of an avocado’s energy comes from fat, most of which (67% of total fat)
is monounsaturated fat (as oleic acid).
Other key fats include palmitic acid and linoleic acid.
High avocado intake has been shown to lower blood cholesterol levels.
Avocado’s healthy fats may also help you to boost brain power, lose weight and
contribute to healthy, glowing skin and hair.
I also had some crisp, fresh, organic kale on hand so I washed a bunch of
leaves and added them to my Vita-Mix.
I had two over-ripe bananas to use up so I included them.
I still had some pineapple left in my refrigerator so I added a few
slices for tangy sweetness.
For Omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants and extra nutrients, I added ground flaxseeds,
chia seeds, hemp seeds and an organic superfood powder which contained spirulina,
probiotics and plant proteins.
For liquid, I used almond milk.
A few seconds in the blender and “Voila” my breakfast appeared!
Quick, easy, tasty, healthy super-nutrition to fuel your day!
