I have a fabulous new fitness friend and her name is Fitbit.
Let’s face it, fitness is a lot more fun when you have someone to share it with.
Fitbit and I are totally inseparable.
Each morning I slip her onto my wrist and off we go!
We do everything together.
We share the same interests.
I set a goal to take at least just 10,000 steps a day, as recommended by the American Heart
Association.
And she’s right there with me, every step of the way.
A morning race walk, a stroll during lunch, taking the stairs–these small changes all add up to
make a big difference.
Whether I am walking, biking, hiking, working out on the treadmill or taking a CardioFit or
Zuumba class, she’s game for anything I want to do.
And for good reason–my Fitbit was designed that way.
Fitbit products seamlessly integrate fitness into your daily life by wirelessly and
automatically syncing to your smartphone, tablet and computer.
Easy-to-use online tools and mobile apps keep you on top of your health and fitness trends.
No matter how busy your schedule, Fitbit helps you make fitness part of your daily routine
in four key areas:
*Activity
Track everyday activity like steps, distance, calories, stairs climbed, and active minutes.
*Food
Log your food with Fitbit’s online tools and mobile apps to get a more complete view of
your health and fitness.
*Weight
Use the Aria WI-FI scale to stay connected to your weight, BMI, and % body fat over time.
*Sleep

Wake up in the morning with a silent wake alarm.
*Community
Fitbit believes you’re more likely to reach your goals if you’re having fun and feeling
empowered along the way.
That’s why Fitbit connects you with your community.
You can see your friends’ achievements, challenge them on the leaderboard, and
encourage each other to go further.
Why I Love My Fitbit Flex
Fitbit offers a choice of fitness trackers.
However, I selected the clean and simple Fitbit Flex band.
Fitbit Flex can be compared to the Niki+Sportswatch and bands.
The Fitbit Flex is a stylish band that can be worn day and night.
During the day it will track your steps, distance and calories burned.
While during the night it keeps track of your sleep patterns.
The Flex has lights on it which allow you to know how you are progressing with your
fitness goals.
Once you set your goals one of the 5 lights will light up each time you achieve 20% of
your goal.
You can sync your Flex to all of your mobile devices and to your home computer so you
will always have real time stats available to you.
I like to wear my Fitbit Flex because it is stylish and not bulky to wear, in fact many people
may not even know that it is a fitness tracker.
It comes in a variety of colors and is compatible with many other fitness apps.
It is also rain, splash and sweat proof so you can wear it outside without damaging it.
To get started first register for a free account at Fitbit.com.
Once you have created your Fitbit account all of your information will be synced and
your data will be updated in real time.
You can sync your device across all the various platforms including PCs, Macs, the
iPhone 4S & 5, iPad 3, Retina & mini, iPod touch, and other select Android phones.
I sync my Fitbit with my iPad and happily track my progress throughout the day.
The graphs and charts displayed on my dashboard are a visual aid to my progress.
Fitbit makes it easy for me keep track of the number of steps I take, the number of stairs
I climb as well as the number of calories I burn and the distance I have traveled all day.
Staying motivated is probably our biggest challenge when it comes to getting and
staying fit.
To help you with this, Fitbit rewards you as you make progress.
You will receive reward badges for daily, weekly, monthly and even for life time
achievements.
When you are near to an achievement you will be alerted to this so you can strive to reach
it quickly.
I still get a kick out of earning new reward badges!
You will also receive a weekly email of your progress plus you can share your results
with your friends.
Who doesn’t love a challenge especially if it helps you reach your fitness goals quickly?
If you use any of the popular websites such as Spark People or My Fitness Pal you can
easily export your data to these by using their fitness apps.
I signed up with Spark People and I’m glad I did.
From health and fitness articles to diet and exercise plans, they’re the perfect companion
to my Fitbit Flex.
Sleep Tight
As I mentioned above, another neat feature of this device is that it can track the
number of hours you sleep and the quality of your sleep.
To use it at night time to track your sleep patterns you simply wear the wrist band.
Once your Fitbit is synced you can keep track on how long you sleep each night as
well as how often you woke up.
It also incorporates a silent, vibrating alarm to wake you up and provides you with a sleep
quality score which you can then work on improving.
I plan to begin tracking my sleep quality soon.
Fitbit Flex Works for Me!
In the short time that I have been using Fitbit Flex as a fitness companion, I have found that
it has provided me with the motivation I need to get up and get moving throughout the day
so I can achieve my daily and weekly goals!
I bought a black Fitbit Flex band but they are available in a variety of pretty colors.
You can purchase it at many retail outlets or you can get it online here.

So you may recall I wrote a post on this, bought it as a gift and now have a gift card at a retailer where I could buy one for myself. This post makes me want to do it. I am soon to start working with a Wellness Coach sooooo the two might compliment each other. Thanks for the full read on how you are experiencing this Deborah. Everyone I know who has one is a kid (no offense) and doesn’t need one.
The fit bit sounds ideal! Better than the Nike one. #WOWlinkup
When I cave in and get a smart phone, I need to get a fitbit. I might just increase my running speed.
Wow very thorough review. My husband’s just sits on his dresser. It did not give him all he was looking or hoping for but it definitely sounds like an excellent tracker from what I have heard from other folks. #wowlinkup
Hi Diatta,
I love it! It pings and lights up when you are near your goal and also when you reach your goal. It’s so much fun. Tell hubby to give it a chance.
I love my Flex too! My old one broke and I just got it replaced by Fitbit’s awesome customer service. It’s especially great since I moved to California where NO ONE walks ANYWHERE so I have to try hard to get my steps in. #wowlinkup
Hi Amanda,
I am do pleased to hear that Fitbit replaced your broken one. That’s awesome. I find that I can’t wait to walk now just so I can get my kudos from Fitbit! It’s such a great motivator!
I love my Fitbit too! I have a Zip, which is great when I play volleyball, but I do wish it tracked my sleep! #wowlinkup
Hi Lex,
There are so many versions to choose from. I bought the flex because it was available at the store I visited. I didn’t even see the Zip there.
The good thing is that it does provide some motivation to move more! I have not even used my sleep feature yet. All the best, Deborah
I’ve been thinking about getting an activity monitor and this is at the top of my list #wowlinkup
