Focusing on your family’s eye care is a big responsibility, especially for families with many generations. And products you may use daily can affect eye health. For example, makeup makes contact with you and your family’s eyes more than you may realize.
Infant’s eyes are only 70 percent developed, making their eye care more important. And until the age of 12, kids will be actively developing their eyes. You certainly don’t need to worry about them using makeup, however, you should keep an eye on the makeup you are using.
Makeup Can Cause Infection and Vision Loss
Using old makeup can cause serious eye infections, according to researchers at the University of Rochester Medical Center. And though you may not be aware of it, you can pass that makeup to your child. Your mascara wand may be a bacteria breeding ground.
Pink Eye can seriously debilitate your vision, and it is a very contagious medical issue. Sharing makeup or trying the makeup samples at the mall is a definite eye care faux pas. And if you get pink eye, you should avoid makeup altogether, according to the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Stay Clear of Fake Eyelashes and Glue
False eyelashes may seem harmless, however, long-term use can lead to serious eye health issues. Those extra long eyelashes are the envy of desire, but at what cost? The glue can get onto your eyes and cause bacterial infections that lead to scarring. It may even cause vision loss.
Focus on Family Eye Care While Looking Fantastic
Eye care changes throughout life, with your kids needing different vision care than your grandparents. Your makeup and fashion also changes, but focusing on eye care while looking wonderful is essential.
You most certainly want each member of your family to have all the fantastic benefits of excellent eye health. From infancy to those well-deserved golden years, eye care is indeed as versatile as life itself.
