I love to hop on my bike and pedal to work–or anywhere else I need to go in my town —
as much as possible.
Do you?
Riding a bicycle feels so good.
It’s actually exhilarating.
And it’s a great way to start the day with at least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise.
Cycling to work is a fantastic way to help keep your body healthy.
By cycling, you’ll also eliminate the need to spend so many hours in the gym before and after
work, saving you money and also time.
With many of us doing little more than sitting at a computer all day while at work, exercise is
becoming more and more important to living well.
It’s your body that keeps you going day in and day out, so it’s important to keep it in decent shape.
Those who exercise regularly know how good it can feel for the body, but they also know it feels
good for the mind.
Exercise can help clear your mind, distracting you from your worries and concerns.
It’s also a known fact that cardiovascular exercise can help with mental health, reducing both
anxiety and depression.
Do You Commute to Work?
If so, then you and I have something in common, along with tens of millions of others.
Many people choose to drive to work, while others may take a train or bus.
However, few choose to cycle.
But cycling could be the best choice of all.
It can be healthy for your wallet as well as your waistline.
Choosing to cycle to work is pretty much guaranteed to save you money, and who isn’t
looking to save money in these challenging times?
One reason is that you don’t have to pay for a car in the first place.
Secondly, you don’t have to pay any tax for your car.
Thirdly, you don’t have to pay for fuel and, well, you get the picture.
If you’re using any kind of transport other than your own two feet to get to work every day,
then you’ll almost certainly save money by traveling there by bicycle instead.
Plus, cycling is a more environmentally-friendly way to commute than driving.

Love this! More people should bike more often. I find where I live especially (California), there is no excuse not to – the weather is perfect all year round for it.
We recently moved and in our old place I had a route figured out so I could bike most anywhere. I’m still trying to figure it out here, I miss biking everywhere!
This is awesome. I live in Illinois, and I used to bike to work when I lived in Chicago. Now that I’m in the suburbs, I would have to go through a few not-so-great neighborhoods to get to work, so it’s not a great option. However, we do try to do as many errands as we can on the bike in the spring, summer and fall. Starting to get a little cold here though 🙂
This is something I’ve been mulling over for a while. I work at home but go to the gym most mornings, I’m also keen to improve my cycling as I’m pretty much a ‘I haven’t had a bike as an adult’ type of gal (but I do now, so I need to use it!!!). My kids love their bikes and I’m keen to be confident enough to take them places, so I need to fit practice rides into my day. #HHGN blog party hop
Great points! I’m in the market to get a new bike because it is such a great and fun way to stay healthy. Plus, I want to try a tri! 🙂 My husband has been mountain biking a ton lately and he’s lovin’ it!
Great post on cycling to work and the benefits. I work from home but when my kids were younger we biked, or walked, to their elementary school pretty much every day – even when it was 40 degrees outside and windy. Also, I ride my bike to the store a lot which is about 1 mile each way.
I really need to bike to work more but I’m so terrible at riding in traffic. Just have to get more practice! Thanks for the inspiration! #wowlinkup
I’m actually close enough to run to work but I have children to drop off to school in the morning plus I think I don’t want to be sweaty by the time I get there for my 8 am meetings. LOLOL!! I knew a guy who would ride his bike to work. He loved it. He would change clothes in the men’s room. #wowlinkup
I have been talking about riding to work for well over 2 years…I need to pull the trigger on this one. Maybe it will only happen once, but I have to at least try! Thanks for the post. #wowlinkup
