While there are many reasons why you may have given up on working out, it is never too late to get
back into the routine.
Rather than jump back into your exercise routine head first, test the water and get back on track
with baby steps.
“When it comes to
your health and fitness,
it is never too late
to get back into
a workout routine!”
Here are a few ways you can get back on track.
Improve Flexibility
One of the biggest challenges you may face after your lapse in workout activity is flexibility.
Flexibility is very important, because it increases the amount of blood flow to your muscles and joints,
which help to prevent injury.
Flexibility naturally improves after working out on a consistent basis.
However, when you are trying to get back into the swing of things, your lack of flexibility can make
you feel sore and increase your risk for injury.
Keep your flexibility from working against you by working with it.
“Flexibility is important, because
it increases the amount of blood flow
to your muscles and joints,
which help to prevent injury.”
Listen to your body and modify your exercises to accommodate your current health and needs.
Do not force your body into any positions that are painful or extremely uncomfortable.
Sign up for a beginner’s group exercise class and take things slow.
Start stretching on a daily basis.
Work towards improving your flexibility by progressively working towards it.
Cardio
As you start to improve your flexibility, start adding a bit of cardio into the mix.
Cardio workouts help to improve heart rate, stamina, and endurance, which are all necessary for
you to complete your workouts.
“Incorporate brisk walks,
jogs and lunges into
your daily routine.”
Cardio workouts also help to strengthen your core, posture, and reactivate rarely exercised muscles.
Take brisk walks, jog, and incorporate some lunges into your daily routine.
As your flexibility and ability to engage in more challenging workouts for longer periods of time
increases, add more cardio to help increase the ante.
Motivation
One of the biggest reasons why most people start and stop workout regimens is a lack of motivation.
All throughout your fitness journey you are going to experience plateaus and peaks that will affect
your resolve and motivation.
If you have trouble staying motivated, consider signing up for a workout class or a personal trainer.
It is much easier to stay motivated and committed to a cause when you are surrounded by others
who have similar goals.
You can receive and give motivation and support to each other and increase your chances for success.
This also makes exercising more fun and enjoyable.
“Consider signing up for a
workout class or a personal trainer,
to help you stay motivated.”
While a sedentary lifestyle may seem more comfortable, it is not as healthy or rewarding as being
active and engaging in regular exercise activity.
Fight through your challenges to improve your health and fitness.
When it comes to your health and fitness, it is never too late for you to get back in the game.

I think it’s important to include some strength training whatever your age. It helps tone but also helps fitness.
Hi Heidi,
I agree! Resistance training is critical and boosts metabolism as well. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I appreciate!
I love this and I love fitness too. Changes in life usually is what changes my level of fitness. My best tip is to just do it and then stick with it and the routine comes back.
I agree with you! Just do it! I went through a period when I didn’t fit exercise into my regular routine, so I know how important it is to motivate ourselves to make the right moves for health and fitness!
I agree with all of your tips, the only thing that I would as is find an accountability buddy. Working out with someone vs alone is always more fun and also a great motivator.
Hi Cassandre,
Yes, that’s a super suggestion! Having someone else to exercise with is much more fun! And it helps us to stick to our schedule. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I appreciate it.
Great ideas! I always forget the flexibility element when I’m getting back into the game!
Hi Lindsay,
I know what you mean. I often forget the importance of stretching too but I feel it later. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I appreciate it.
Amen to these! I actually am just starting to work on my flexibility now…I went to a new yoga class, and the instructor blew me away. She was so agile and flexible. It was beyond cool. And, I definitely agree about taking group x classes when the motivation isn’t strong. Just get to class, and the instructor will motivate you to do the rest. : )
I really need to get back to my fitness kick – miss the buzz it gives me 🙂 Thanks for linking up to Pin Worthy Wednesday, I have pinned your post to the Pin Worthy Wednesday Pinterest Board.
If I need a kick in the pants like we all do from time to time then I surround myself with other like-minded folks whose enthusiasm pushes me to get of my rear and kick it into gear (oooo that rhymed). LOL. #wowlinkup
It does the minimum an Ethernet camera are capable
of doing, but there are several better options available for under $100.
That is exactly what I like about the ID Vault Theft Protection security key the
most. If your organization has valuable collectibles like
jewelry, historical items, or firearms, a security camera system is often a
real necessity.
Based on Pushing Boundaries concept, Samsung released
a series in the global sync smart cameras, thus open the brand new market and win new chance.
Obviously the first answer that you could think of is YES, security is a
good thing.
Great post Deborah on how to get back into Fitness!
