We all like to stay fit and healthy, but sometimes our busy lifestyles don’t always let us get to the gym and workout as often as we’d like. Working full-time, taking the kids to daycare or school, running errands, and other responsibilities sometimes get in the way. Don’t give up, though!
Here are 5 tips that can help you stay fit without working out:
1.Take the stairs instead of the elevator
It’s almost automatic to take the elevator at work or the escalator at the mall when we’re in a hurry, but if you want to stay fit, consider taking the stairs or parking further away than usual when you’re at the office, the mall, the airport or anywhere else you usually go. Walking stairs burns more calories, and the more walking you do not only builds endurance but also increases your heart rate and helps you feel more active and alert every day. You may want to buy a Fitbit or pedometer to keep track of your heart rate and the number of steps you take every day. Set a goal for the number of steps you want to walk in a day, week, month, etc.
2.Play sports
Whether it’s a simple pickup basketball game in the driveway, a softball game at the local park on a lazy Saturday, or a flag football game in the backyard with your family, you can find plenty of ways to stay active and healthy. You don’t have to keep score or even follow the rules of the game, just participate in a sport and have fun! A quick and easy way to stay active for you and your family and friends.
3.Supplements

These are just a few of the many over the counter supplements that are available on the market today. Most of them are great additions to your every day exercise and health routines, and in some cases, can help reduce the pain and soreness from your daily workout. 4.Outdoor chores are great ways to stay fit while being productive
Whether it’s mowing the lawn, picking up sticks and branches, gardening, pruning or just arranging the lawn furniture for a backyard barbecue, there are lots of great ways to stay active and burn off pesky calories while enjoying some beautiful weather at the same time.
5.Create your own exercise routine at home
It could be as simple as a few stretches or a few minutes of yoga stretches while you’re doing the laundry or picking up the kids’ toys, taking a brisk walk after work, or a full workout routine every morning before work or every evening before bed. Get a good night’s sleep every night. Having a good fitness program is great, but you also need to incorporate downtime and rest into the schedule. Getting a good night’s sleep and cooling down after every daily set of exercises helps you heal mentally and physically from every workout.
Have a healthy diet. Just like our cars need gas, we also need to fuel our bodies with healthy, nutritious food. It’s OK to have a cheeseburger now and then, but don’t make a habit of eating fatty foods all the time. Plan meals that are healthy and have enough good calories to get you through your day.
Know your limits. We all have lofty goals sometimes when it comes to our exercise programs, but let’s face it: we don’t always have the strength and endurance that we had when we were younger. Know the limitations of what your body can handle. It’s just fine to strive for improvement and added exercises day by day, but don’t overtax your body, either.
Whatever you decide, there are plenty of simple workout ideas that you can do at home, at work or in your neighborhood that don’t take a lot of time. You can even improvise and do different activities on different days. Plan your routine, establish goals and stick to them, and enjoy your routine!
