There’s nothing I like better then wandering around my neighborhood catching up on
what’s new.
It’s a bustling urban area with lots of interesting businesses, apartment houses, restaurants
and shops but nothing stays the same so I am always on the lookout for the latest cool cafe
or shop.
As luck would have it, on my way to yoga class, I practically tripped over the spanking new
sidewalk signs heralding the latest launch in the neighborhood:
VSpot Gramercy: Latin. Organic. Vegan.
The creators of VSpot think eating healthy doesn’t have to be boring.
Thus, VSpot believes healthy, organic, vegan food should be bright, colorful and full
of flavor.
What’s more, the newest location in the VSpot chain is connected with the New York
Comedy Club so you can enjoy both vegan food and lots of laughs in one place!
This cozy cafe has a warm and welcoming vibe, so you can pop in for organic coffee and
vegan pastries or indulge in treats like empanadas, chips and salsa, avocado fries, burritos
or veggie wraps, and stay as long as you want.
Since it was the middle of the afternoon and I had not yet eaten lunch, I decided to take a
seat and sample their cuisine.
I eagerly perused the heartier fare on the menu.
I considered the VSpot Burrito and the Chipotle Quesadilla, however, I finally settled on
the Veggie Lasagna which was served with a simple, mesclun salad perfectly-dressed with
olive oil and lemon.
Made with organic noodles layered with their house-made cashew ricotta, Daiya mozzarella,
ground seitan and house-made marinara sauce (cooked with Kosher wine)–the veggie lasagna
did not disappoint.
It was satisfying and delicious.
Still curious about other tempting entrees items on the menu, I followed the lasagna
with their delicious Quinoa Kale Salad–organic ginger quinoa blended with sauteed
kale and chickpeas–served with a delectable Thai-style peanut dressing.
To my palate, peanut dressing is always a good idea!
VSpot seems to be the kind of simple, laid back spot where you can plop down
at a table with your laptop or tablet, order a few items and hang out for hours.
Or pop in for live music and munchies.
Check their event schedule!
Because VSpot is practically around the corner, I expect to make it a regular stop for
light, organic vegan eats.
I can’t wait to catch up on my current read with a cup of their “famous” cold-brewed
coffee and house-made Morning Glory muffins.
Apparently, VSpot is known for their delicious vegan baked goods.
Best of all, VSpot has two other locations in New York which I plan to explore soon
and share with you here!

Great review Deborah! I think I tried the VSpot in Brooklyn and loved it so I’ll have to try the on in Manhattan next time I’m in there. 🙂
Oh I love it when new, vegan restaurants open up nearby. This one looks good! And they have gluten-free muffins!!! I haven’t seen that near where I live.
Good looking eats =)
Yes, this vegan restaurant chain is expanding. I think they have 5 spots now. The manager even runs one of our vegan Meet Ups. I hope you get a chance to check them out.
I haven’t found a strictly vegan restaurant I love here in San Francisco–yet, but I would like to try those pastries at your VSpot. So far, the vegan things I’ve tasted weren’t that great here. But I’ll keep hunting. And if ever I’m in New York … !
there is not any vegan restaurants in our area that I am aware of . I do like the farmers markets that have things like this though. Your post was very interesting to read and I learned quite a bit as well
