Dublin is a modern, bustling city, full of history, art, and culture. It’s a popular destination for all sorts of travelers, including food lovers, with hundreds of restaurants and eateries to suit all tastes. Both vegetarians and vegans have a wide array of choice in Dublin, with many vegetarian and vegan restaurants catering solely to these increasingly popular lifestyle choices.

Cornucopia has been around since 1986, and caters not just to vegetarians and vegans, but also to celiac, sugar-free, and raw/living diets. With a focus on organic and locally grown produce, this award-winning restaurant has a casual vibe, with counter service and a takeaway option. The menu changes daily and includes homemade soups and salads, as well as full, hearty mains, and a great choice of desserts. The food is so popular, you can even take the recipes to-go in the Cornucopia at Home cookbook.
Blazing Salads

This takeaway only deli offers a wholesome, filling selection of both vegetarian and vegan foods. Founded by two sisters in 2000, the buffet style box options are extremely popular. Select a box size to match your hunger, and fill it as you choose with salad and hot foods, such as grains and vegetables. Try one of the vegetarian burgers, or grab a soup or curry to take home and eat later. Blazing Salads also has an on-site bakery and produces certified organic sourdough bread and a daily selection of vegan sweet treats, some of which are gluten-free or sugar-free.
Umi Falafel

This relaxing informal cafe, featured in the Dublin city guide, specializes in Middle Eastern cuisine. Umi is the Arabic word for mother, and describes the cafe’s focus on preparing their food with the love and care of home cooking. Everything is freshly prepared each day, including the bread, and food is cooked to order. The authentic, signature falafel makes up the core of the menu, but other options are available, such as soup or salad.
Happy Food

This “plant based place” is located at the YogaHub, and provides a strictly vegetarian menu, with gluten-free and dairy-free options aplenty. Whether you eat-in for breakfast or lunch, or grab a takeaway dinner, the exciting menu has something for everyone. The hearty Sloppy Joe black bean burger with chips is a firm favorite if you’re feeling hungry, or grab a nutritious smoothie if you’re just after a snack.
Sova Vegan Butcher

The slightly odd name of this former pop-up restaurant describes its use of plant-based meat substitutes to create vegan-friendly versions of classic dishes. The restaurant, located at its current permanent address since 2016, is informal but lively, and aims to promote vegan food and a healthy lifestyle. With steak, pulled pork, and doner kebab all on the menu in alternative vegan form, this unique place is certainly worth a visit.
This is just a small selection of the excellent vegetarian and vegan food that Dublin has to offer. The popular, modern city embraces sustainable, healthy lifestyles and has a delicious variety of cuisine to match.
