Do you sometimes feel depressed, sad, disappointed or frustrated in the course of your daily life?
We all do. It’s very common to feel that way.
But we don’t always have to give in to those emotions.
We have choices.
Our beliefs in ourselves determine how we feel and perform in various situations.
However, we have the power to choose what we believe.
If we want to perceive a situation differently, we have the ability to do so.
We need to recognize the impact our beliefs have on how we feel and behave.
Believing something about a situation often determines how events unfold.
What we think and feel about a person can affect how we relate to that person.

Each of my activities delights me.

The idea of choice is something many of us embrace without really knowing how often we let other people and things choose for us. But when we truly act on choice, It is a very, very powerful experience to see how it changes us. My mantra these days: Insist, and resist. Insist on things that make me happy, resist what pulls me from them. Another piece of advice I offer my children who say, “Well, duh.”
Thank you so much for sharing your comments.I love the mantra you shared! Very inspiring!
I so believe in affirmations. In fact, my book, “Colors of Joy: A Woman’s Guide for Self-Discovery, Balance, and Bliss” is filled with 12 weeks’ worth of affirmations, color-coded journal writing, and interactive self-care activities. I’d love you to see it Deborah. Would you please consider reviewing it? If you can, contact me via email to discuss this. Thanks for affirming “I am captivated and thrilled by life!” Your article is so informative. nancyandreswriter@gmail.com

Hi Amanda,
I am so glad you liked this affirmation! So glad you hopped by. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me.
When I am alone I have time to think and reflect. I know depression is real even though I don’t suffer from it BUT when I begin to feel or think negatively I work to switch up my thinking FAST! I do not want to remain in complaint mode. If there is something I do not like I pray on it and then use the good mind God gave me to make a difference. #wowlinkup
Hi Diatta,
I really like the way you think You are so positive, energetic and achievement-oriented! I also bet the high you get from working out regularly is just what you need! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with me. I appreciate it.
I’m really getting into affirmations and positive thinking so this post was right up my alley. It’s hard to work on our mindset, but can make a huge difference. I just read the book The Big Leap that talks a lot about these ideas. Check it out if you have a chance 🙂 Visiting from the #wowlinkup
Funny I just had a conversation with one of my teens the other day about if being happy all the time was a choice. I think it is, I mean sure there are times when we will encounter things that do not make us happy, but we can choose how long we stay in that state of mind.
Hi Joyce,
I feel the same way. It’s sort like mind over matter. A state of positivity and happy mindfulness that we can choose to sustain. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I appreciate it.
Bravo Deborah. Fantastic Post. I chant affirmations every day. It’s sort of like having my own cheering section on hand to celebrate each day. I am on a similar wave length about mindfulness too.So important! Nancy A.
