When I was a little girl, I loved to watch my mother sit at her dressing table, look in the
mirror and begin her nightly skin care ritual.
Mom was blessed with smooth, beautiful, brown skin and she cared for her skin with
beauty rituals which were passed down by her own mother.
She would apply heavy white creams with names like Noxema or Ponds Cold Cream to
her skin and wipe her makeup off it off with tissues.
Then she would moisturize her face with Vaseline or some fancy, higher-priced product with
exotic-sounding names like Ultra Nadinola.
I learned to care for my own skin by imitating her and playing with her products, perched on
her padded stool in front of her mirror.
When I became an adult and had enough money to buy my own beauty products, I started
my own beauty rituals.
My girlfriends and I loved to “shop til we dropped” for the hottest skin care brands or fall
for the advertising claims of the latest, must-have, anti-aging beauty treatments!
Unfortunately, those products never really lived up to their seductive promises.
But not anymore.
Knowledge is power.
Now, I am cuckoo for coconuts!
Yes, I dumped all of my over-priced, under-performing, chemical and additive-filled
beauty balms into the trash and replaced at least six products with one simple,
natural jar of organic coconut oil.
I always have at least 2 jars on hand.
I keep one jar of coconut oil in the bathroom and another jar in the kitchen for most of my
natural body care needs.
And it works wonders from head to toe.
For good reasons:
*Coconut oil helps fight bacteria and viruses that cause illness.
*It also fends off yeast, fungus and candida.
*Plus, this multi-purpose, super oil can be used to make everything from sunscreen
to deodorant–simply by mixing it with a few common household ingredients–and
in some cases, essential oils.

Coconut oil is one of those things I always have at home. Like you I keep one jar in the kitchen and another one in the bathroom. I use it in my homemade beauty products and in my food. I have been looking for an organic, natural eyeliner but always ended up finding questionable ingredients. I am so glad you shared your recipe. Now I finally can make my own with just three ingredients – it cannot be better. I shared your great post. Thank you so much for this infographic!

Wow! I had no idea there were so many great uses for coconut oil. I keep a jar in the bathroom as well, but was just using it as an evening moisturizer. I’m eager to try some new ways of using it =)
This is great information Deborah. I use coconut for so many things – my recipes vary a little for these but I might just change some them to add some variation. Thanks for sharing them. Twitted & pinned.
