Is your kitchen old and outdated?
You need to bring it up to the 21st century.
Whether you are willing to spend your own money or borrow a loan from the bank,
it is important to save some when working on big projects.
You can do your own DIY remodeling if you want to save more money.
Here are several things that you can do:
Swap out your lighting
You can swap out your old lights with stylish new pedant styles to create a new focal point
in your kitchen.
You will find these brand new lights for cheap at your local hardware store.
They will not break the bank and your kitchen will be left looking better than it ever has.
Upgrade accessories
With only a few opportunities for decoration, you should make the most out of the little things.
Gather up a few unused items and prop them on a woven tray to make your kitchen look better.
You should also replace your old faucets with contemporary kitchen faucets stainless steel.
This will give your sink a modernized look without having to spend too much money.
Repaint your walls and cabinets
Do your kitchen cabinets have a dated finish that you have been dying to change?
Now is your chance.
You can add a personal touch to your standard-issue white cabinets.
What about your walls?
Which color do you want to paint them?
You should consult another person in your family before choosing any color.
This way, someone else can weigh in on the decision.
Add shelves for storage
Does your kitchen lack upper cabinets?
You can install rustic wood shelves on metal brackets easily and cheaply.
Not only will they add to the aesthetic appeal of your kitchen, but they will also provide
functional space for everyday storage of kitchen items.
Hang window treatments
New drapes can totally transform your space.
However, you should think hard about which treatment to hang above your sink.
If you buy something with too much fabric, it might be ruined by splashing water and soap.
n Instead, you should hang a drape that only fits within your window.
A roman shade that can be pulled up when washing dishes would be ideal.
Add a backsplash
The beauty of installing a backsplash is that it adds to the beauty of your kitchen while saving
your walls from water damage.
A backsplash is an easy to install addition that will not break the bank.
Do you lack the skills for installing tiles? You can hire a contractor to install it for you.
Replace the countertop
Replacing a countertop is not as expensive as you would think and can make your boring cabinets
look better.
You can get a laminate counter for just a few hundred dollars.
If you want to install a stone countertop but cannot afford it, opt for install nicer laminate options,
which look like stone.
A new countertop will give your kitchen a fresh and new look.
Get new pulls and handles
Changing the hardware for your cabinetry is a very easy part of the kitchen update.
Look for colorful replacements such as those with brushed nickel finishes.
However, you should resist the temptation to get something too cute or personal.
No matter how strapped for cash you are, there is always a little money for a kitchen update.
Kitchens and bathrooms are the most remodeled rooms in any house.
Therefore, chances are that your friends and neighbors have already updated their kitchens.
You do not want to be the only one with an outdated kitchen.

Love this advice and have used some of it Deborah on my own kitchen – thank you for sharing on I am PInnable
We just gave our entire kitchen a refresh and we pretty much hit on every suggest you made. Even though we did paint the walls and cabinets, install a new tiled backsplash, installed a new counter top, new sink and faucet, new floor, it’s AMAZING that even just changing ONE of those items made such a difference to the look of the entire kitchen. Great list and thanks for sharing!
