If you are always tired, there are plenty of reasons why this may be true for you.
In today’s overbooked culture, many people are suffering from chronic tiredness.
The good news is that it is possible to make a few lifestyle changes and re-energize
your life.
Top Reasons You Are Tired
There are multiple reasons for your weariness, and some of them can be remedied
fairly easily.
Do any of these possibilities sound familiar to you?
• Not enough or too much sleep
• Eating the wrong foods
• Not enough exercise or working out right before bedtime
• Wrong mattress for your body type
Remedies for Top 4 Reasons
If your problem lies in one of the most common reasons, congratulations.
You can fix your troubles fairly easily.
• Too much or too little sleep
The average person needs between seven and nine hours of sleep, hence the often-heard
eight-hours-per-day recommendation.
If you are getting four to six hours of sleep, you are setting yourself up for car accidents,
heart problems, diabetes, impaired thinking, and depression.
If you are sleeping more than nine hours, you may be heading for obesity, an increased
mortality rate, and heart challenges.
• Improper diet
If you drink too many caffeinated beverages or consume too much sugar, your blood sugar
levels can go crazy, and your quality of sleep can deteriorate.
Eating a healthier diet will allow you to settle into more restful slumber.
• Exercise issues
If you don’t get enough exercise, your body won’t be physically tired enough to sink into a deep,
nourishing sleep.
On the flip side, if you exercise within three hours of going to bed at night, you could end up too
energized for shut-eye.
Keep your exercising routines in the earlier parts of the day to fix this sleep problem.
• Wrong mattress
Every person’s body is different, and the mattress each one sleeps on should fit the needs of
the individual.
Make sure you have a top quality mattress with the firmness level most conducive to your sleep.
Age-Related Sleep Needs
Your age plays a part on your sleep, as well.
If you are getting up in years, you may take longer to fall asleep.
The time you spend sleeping shifts over the decades, too, as you can see by these numbers:
• Age 20: It takes 16 minutes to fall asleep, and average total sleep time is 7.5 hours.
• Age 40: It takes 17 minutes to fall asleep, and average total sleep time is 7 hours.
• Age 60: It takes 18 minutes to fall asleep, and average total sleep time is 6.2 hours.
• Age 70: It takes 18.5 minutes to fall asleep, and average total sleep time is 6 hours.
Recovering From Sleep Debt
When you don’t get enough sleep, including REM and slow-wave shut-eye, your body will need
to take some time to recover.
Typically, this can be achieved by longer sleep cycles.
To recover:
• Sleep longer periods of time and let your body do the rest.
• Remember this formula: ten hours of sleep can heal a previous insomniac night.
If you feel tired all the time, you have more control over this challenge than you might think.
By making a few lifestyle changes, you can catch up on your z’s and be healthier overall as a result.

I also want to point out for readers that a copper imbalance can also contribute to chronic tiredness, as well as anxiety, depression, panic attacks. It is becoming more common because more women are using the copper IUD
( Copper IUD, copper plumbing, copper pots, copper chemicals in swimming pools)
If anyone suspects problems- look up copper toxicity on the Internet ..
I’m writing about it so women don’t have to suffer needlessly.. ( Most doctors have no idea about copper toxicity)
My sister in law was exhausted and depressed to the point she could not work for months before I realized that she had a copper IUD put in just before her symptoms started. Upon removal and taking some natural supplements to help flush out the copper from the tissues, she is now fine Just passing on important info for women..
Hi Judee,
It is so amazing how often I have heard of cases like this–concerning other items that cause unexplained health issues. Thank you so much for sharing this information about copper IUDs. Others will benefit from this as well.
This was so insightful! I didn’t know that the older you get the longer it takes you to fall asleep. I’ve never struggled with sleep, but in the last year or so I am starting to feel sore in the mornings. Maybe it’s time to take a look at my mattress or exercise habits! Thanks!
Great advice Deborah – and I really should head to my bed 🙂
