Are you falling for fall? I certainly am.
Fall is my favorite season of the year for many reasons. It’s a feast for all of the senses. From fall fairs and cultural events to holiday-themed festivities, there are so many wonderful things fall-specific things to enjoy that I have to make a fall bucket list to make sure that I do most of the things I want to do.
You may have a life bucket list that applies to activities you do year-round, but have you considered creating a seasonal bucket list? This can be a great way to know what you want to do or get done during this time of year, and even find some new activities you have never done before.
When thinking about what to include on your fall bucket list, however, think of what you enjoy doing during the season, or what you have always wanted to do, but never got around to. What makes it different is that you are listing simple things you can do, but more of the things you really want to do for the season. It gives you an idea of what you can plan for this season, including what to add to your calendar if you are working on a daily planner.
Benefits of Making a Bucket List
To start with, let’s discuss some of the general benefits of having a bucket list. This includes just regular life bucket lists, and specific ones, like time sensitive bucket lists (things to do before a certain age), or seasonal bucket lists.
There are a lot of ways you can benefit by having one, such as reaching certain goals and having new experiences. You might have things in your mind you have always wanted to do, but what actions have you taken to make them a reality? This is often the hardest part.
When you have a bucket list, you have a clear list of things to do, places to go, people to meet. You are able to look at the list, set tasks to achieve these goals, and get out of your comfort zone.
Why Use a Season-Specific List?
Similarly, there are quite a few reasons to do a season-specific bucket list, such as one for fall. When you have a bucket list just for fall, it is more time-sensitive, so you should list things you can accomplish in the next couple months.
Having a seasonal bucket list is also going to help you by getting out of your house and really enjoying all the season has to offer, instead of constantly feeling like you passed up a good opportunity.
When thinking about what to include on your fall bucket list, think of what you enjoy doing during the season, or what you have always wanted to do, but never got around to.
Maybe there is an apple festival nearby, or you want to go apple picking. You can add fun things like going on a hay ride, picking out a pumpkin at a pumpkin patch, or doing certain fall crafts.
You might have other things in mind like having friends over for game night or going on a fall hike. List anything and everything you would want to do, and cross them off one by one.
Enjoy Nature in All its Autumn Glory
Self-care isn’t just about spending time indoors and having morning routines all for yourself. Sometimes, you want to step a little out of your comfort zone and enjoy new things. This can be something you do alone or with loved ones and fiends. One excellent thing to do in the fall is to enjoy nature and get outdoors for new (or beloved) activities.
Here are a few fun fall bucket list examples:
*Find Local Festivals or Fairs
Take a look at any local festivals, fairs, or carnivals in the fall. These often include activities like hay rides, bobbing for apples, or corn mazes. You might find one with harvest rides or even hot air balloon rides for your family or friends. These can be a fun way to get outside and enjoy the season with people you love the most.
*Go Apple Picking
Apple picking is fun to do in the fall if you can find an orchard nearby. Whether you bring the kids, or just go with some close friends as something different to do. It is a great time to explore new things, even the simplest of activities. This might also be a good time to enjoy a scenic drive if you don’t have an apple orchard in town, but want to go on a fun little road trip for this activity. Of course, the best part is making lots of delectable dishes with all of those apples.
*Head to the Pumpkin Patch
Instead of buying your pumpkin at a grocery store, why not go to an actual pumpkin patch? Many cities and towns have big pumpkin patches where you can walk around and look at all the various sizes and shapes of pumpkins to pick out your favorite one. Bonus – it is also a great opportunity for some fall pictures with the family. From pumpkin pie to to pumpkin soup to pumpkin seed milk and smoothies, there are so many delicious treats to make from those pumpkins.
*Go on a Fall Hike
If you want to try outdoor exercise, hiking allows you to enjoy the crisp, fall air, see how the season changed the area around you, and will let you take good care of your health by getting your blood pumping at the same time. Hiking can be wonderful to do with those you love, or just as a solo activity.
*Collect Fall Leaves
If your kids want to get involved, why not bring them somewhere to collect interesting fallen leaves? In the fall, the leaves change colors to warm reds and oranges, so you can collect these and bring them home. There are a lot of really fun craft projects that kids will love to do with the leaves.
Remember, once you create your personal fall bucket list, you’ll have a clear list of things to do, places to go, people to meet.
