Leonardo DaVinci’s masterpiece The Last Supper is a main tourist destination for Milan,
the industrial and business center of Italy.
Hotels in Milan offer great amenities and easy access to the city’s culture.
After the requisite visit to DaVinci’s masterpiece, however, these five suggestions can help
make the rest of your trip memorable:
1. Visit a UNESCO World Heritage Site
After visiting Da Vinci’s famous mural in the refectory of the convent of Basilica di Santa Maria
Della Grazie, be sure to explore the rest of the fifteenth-century basilica as well.
The Allies partially bombed the structure during World War II, but fortunately, some important
paintings were protected.
In addition to The Last Supper, this Dominican basilica boasts a painting by Titian and an apse
designed by master Renaissance architect Donato Bramante.
2. Shop at the Quatrilatero d’Oro
Milan’s Quatrilatero d’Oro, or Rectangle of Gold, houses some of the world’s top designers.
Styles sold here are straight from the runways and boast high-fashion names like Missoni,
Versace, Prada and other top international designers.
If you are still in the mood to splurge, the luxurious Four Seasons Hotel Milano is a great place
to rest after a long day of shopping.
3. Explore History at the Castello Sforzesco
Located within the complex of the castle are the Castello Sforzesco Museums.
These six museums feature collections ranging from Ancient Egyptian art to decorative and
fine arts.
There is also a museum of musical instruments, which showcases organs, wind instruments
and pianos.
The Camperia House Suites are just steps away.
4. Combine History and Exercise
Enjoy jogging or walking from the historic Castello Sforzesco to the Arco della Pace.
This 3.5 kilometer trek is a popular route for tourists and locals.
If you go later in the day, be prepared to dodge tourists, but the city’s historical and cultural
buildings dotting the path keep the exercise interesting.
5. Experience Milan’s Gothic Cathedral
Milan’s cathedral is simply referred to as the Duomo.
It is expansive and monumental, with tall thin spires, and it is not to be missed.
Visitors may tour the roof and see the Gothic architectural features up close — be sure to check out
the Duomo’s website for up-to-date information.
For quick access to the Duomo, Hotel Spadari al Duomo is located in walking distance.
Milan hotels offer something for every visitor, from opulence and luxury to simple, clean rooms.
With so many options, it is easy to experience everything from high fashion to unique history in Milan.
