Homeowners and home builders always look for materials that can be used in any part of the home
or commercial space, are durable and require little maintenance.
Porcelain tiles, commonly known as thin porcelain tile, in recent years, have undergone this type
of makeover from their traditional porcelain version.
They are now available in large sizes, are ultra thin, and have certain mechanical properties that
make them a perfect fit for indoor as well as outdoor residential and commercial applications.
The modern porcelain tiles are made from natural materials such as clays, silica, and others, which
undergo an extremely stringent kilning process that ultimately shapes the final output.
This process makes it one of the strongest surfaces that are crack and scratch resistant, weather
resistant, and strong chemical resistant.
It is also lightweight, easy to apply, and does not absorb water making them suitable for indoors
or outdoors in places with low temperature or temperate climates.
These tiles may belong to a soft palette of cream, white, charcoal, light brown, dark brown, beige
and gray or may be of a more solid color mirroring marble, wood, metal, textile or concrete shades.
“Any flooring material used for home or
commercial purpose must be compatible
with the underfloor heating system.
Simply put, the material must transfer
heat quickly and efficiently to
the floor surface.”
Advantages Of Porcelain Ceramic Tiles
1.One great advantage of this type of tile is that it can be used conveniently in any part
of the house.
You can apply it to walls and flooring in kitchens, in bathrooms for wall and around the tub,
living room or around the fireplace.
Outdoors, they can be used for swimming pools, driveways, sidewalks, outdoor dining or cooking
space, etc.
You can even opt for a porcelain tile finish for doors, stairs, benches, fountains, fireplace, etc.
2.It is not 100% ceramic or porcelain but merges the integral properties of both and takes
on a distinct character of its own.
Its ultra-thinness also makes it bendable so it is easier to install around circular surfaces in a single
or mosaic pattern.
3.The tiles with solid color finish are great looking.
They bear a striking resemblance with marble, wood or other materials, looks absolutely rich and
ravishing and blend seamlessly into the overall appearance of the room.
You can pick a matte or a glossy surface finish for the ultimate regal look.
The big porcelain tiles have barely visible or zero grout lines which further adds in maintaining the
overall appearance.
4.They also do not scratch or stain easily.
These elegant looking tiles are crack resistant in low temperatures or if a heavy object falls on them.
The older version of this tile did not offer this benefit, however, the newer version is manufactured
differently making them extremely crack resistant.
5.They can be placed over existing tile seamlessly, and hence form great options for bathrooms
or kitchen counter top remodeling.
It is a less tedious and messy process requiring lesser number of tiles.
One of the biggest advantages of using them outdoors is that the colors do not fade due to UV rays
or temperature changes.
Does Underfloor Heating Work with Ceramic Tiles?

Simply put, the material must transfer heat quickly and efficiently to the floor surface.
Porcelain tiles ranks high on this scale.
Their thermal conductivity is very high, thus any underfloor heating pipe transfers heat
to the surface quickly.
They also retain heat better than other materials.
Therefore, they can be used efficiently in areas with high heat loss like sun rooms.
The thinner the tile, the faster it heats up.
For all these reasons and more, porcelain tiles are gaining popularity and today many ceramic
tile suppliers carry a good selection of porcelain tiles with varying thinness levels, types of
finishing, and sizes.
It is just a day’s job to install them and the process is quite hassle-free.
A professional can do the job for you at a reasonable price.

I love underfloor heating I will confess Deborah
I much prefer tiles to other kinds of flooring. Its long lasting and gorgeous. I have had a home with under floor heating in the bathroom its feels like luxury. I wish that the cost of tile will come down to make it more accessible for most home owners.
