Hair typically takes a lot of abuse every day. This includes exposure to harsh chemicals and damage from flat irons or hair dryers. If you’ve noticed your hair feels dry, brittle, and unhealthy, you may want to reevaluate how you’re taking care of your hair. You need to be extra gentle with it or follicles will show signs of damage. Transitioning to natural hair and switching to natural hair care methods is a great way to make your hair healthy and beautiful again, all it involves are just a few changes to your daily routine.
Take Supplements
There are many great supplements you can take to improve the health of your hair. You can also consider mixing supplements and Cortex hair products for even better results. Look for vitamins and supplements that include:
• Zinc
• Vitamin E
• Omega 3 fatty acids
• Omega 6 fatty acids
• Vitamin A
• Vitamin C
• Vitamin B-5
• Protein
Many of these vitamins can be found in products that you can apply directly to your hair instead of taking in a pill form.

Avoid Using Harsh Chemicals
Its’s very important to pay close attention to the kinds of products you’re using on your hair. Some chemicals are extremely bad for your hair and will only cause damage. Many hair products contain these harsh chemicals so definitely be careful about what you purchase to use on your hair. Avoid using products if they contain:
• Isopropyl alcohol
• Sodium Lauryl Sulfate
• Chlorine
• DEA
• MEA
• FD & C Color Pigments
• Fragrance
• Phthalates and Parabens
Some of these ingredients are found in industrial detergents and can cause severe hair damage. Some also cause hair breakage, scalp irritation, and hair brittleness.
Watch What You Eat
Your diet can play a huge part in how healthy your hair is or isn’t. Getting the nutrients your body needs is one of the best ways to make your hair healthy. Add foods that are high in protein such as fish, eggs, meats and meat substitutes, dairy products, nuts, and legumes. You also want to make sure you’re getting enough iron in your diet because not consuming enough iron can actually cause hair loss.
Deep Condition and Avoid Daily Washing
Deep conditioning is ideal for adding moisture to your hair and making it softer and healthier. You should try to deep condition your hair once a week to ensure it remains healthy. For completely natural deep conditioners, consider making your own with just a few ingredients you probably already have on hand. A deep conditioner made from bananas, olive oil, honey, and glycerin is great for making your hair more manageable while one made from olive oil, shea butter, and apple cider vinegar works for detangling.
It’s also essential to skip washing your hair daily because this strips essential oils and dries your hair out. Some dirt and oil is actually good to have in your hair because it provides a good protective barrier between your hair and your skin. Try going every other day or every other two days in between washing your hair.
By taking extra-care of your hair, you can see an improvement in how healthy it is. Be mindful of the hair products you use and avoid chemicals that will end up causing more damage. Avoid frequent exposure to heat and consider taking vitamins and supplements. Try to limit the amount of times you wash your hair and understand the oils in your hair are actually good for it.
