If you want to improve your health and well-being, it is important to fragrance your home with health-improving scents. Using this natural approach is better than scenting your home with artificial fragrances. Therefore, using essential oils, also known as EOs, by placing them into a diffuser, is much better for you than resorting to air freshener products.

well-being, it is important to

health-improving scents.”
Why Aromatherapy Is Better
While synthetic products such as air fresheners provide a seemingly fresh and often delightful scent, it is generally not good to breathe in these scents. Essential oils, on the other hand, are derived from the plants found in nature. So, you can pick up these scents on a spring or summer walk. However, synthetic scents may be made of compounds that are not good for your respiratory health.
For example, formaldehyde (a human carcinogen) is found in artificial fragrance formulas. This chemical is linked to nose and throat cancer as well as sore throats, nosebleeds, and coughs.
In addition, basic ingredients such as p-dichlorobenzene or petroleum products increase the risk of asthma in children and adults. Not only that, but many artificial fragrances contain VOCs, or volatile organic compounds. These substances can develop a vapor at room temperature, which also increases the risk of respiratory distress.
Plus, when you use an aromatherapy diffuser, you can prevent certain health conditions and heal specific ailments that are bothering you. You certainly do not have this type of latitude when an air freshener is used. Some of the EOs that are available for use contain antifungal, antibacterial, and antiviral properties. Therefore, they can be used safely for disinfection purposes. Either way, they offer a way to fight infection, reduce illness, and boost immunity.
Disinfectant Properties
By contrast, essential oils are made up of three kinds of terpenes or hydrocarbons, each of which features its own health benefits. For instance, terpenes known as phenylpropanoids possess antiviral, antifungal, and antibacterial properties. These terpenes clean the receptor cells in order to prevent disease. Oils containing the terpene include cassia, basil, clove, anise, and peppermint.
Terpenes known as monoterpenes are found in most EOs. These hydrocarbons act as antioxidants and prevent such diseases as Alzheimer’s and cancer.
Sesquiterpenes, also found in EOs, deliver oxygen to the body’s tissues. As a result, these hydrocarbons make it more difficult for cancer cells, bacteria, or viruses to thrive. EOs that contain sesquiterpenes include black pepper, myrrh, ginger, sandalwood, and frankincense.
Fight Off Flu or Cold Symptoms with a Diffuser
For instance, in order to treat a cold or the flu, you can use an aromatherapy diffuser to heat up scents such as thyme and rosemary. To boost your immune system, EOs such as clove, orange, and cinnamon are advised for use. You only need to place a few drops of each in an aromatherapy diffuser to overcome a cold or the flu, or to simply enjoy better health. (Image source:)
How EOs Can Improve Your Quality of Life
If you wish to purify the air in your home, select Essential Oils Diffusers such as eucalyptus, juniper, and lemongrass, and add a couple drops of each EO to a diffuser. Besides improving the air quality in your living space and enhancing your own well-being, you can use EOs to increase your mental clarity and reduce stress too.
How to Feel Calmer and More Relaxed
For example, mental clarity is improved when you use such EOs as peppermint, basil, lemon, and rosemary. Also, if you want to see how a diffuser operates and how it works to “diffuse” stress, choose such oils as lavender, frankincense, or orange to feel calmer and more relaxed.
Overcome Depression
If you want to determine how an aromatherapy diffuser works with respect to depression, you can improve your mood by adding EOs such as orange, bergamot, chamomile, or lavender.
Whatever essential oils you choose to use, you can feel confident that their effects will not be negative. While artificial fragrances can smell luscious, those nose-appealing scents can also lead to health conditions that discredit their use.

“Shared at the Homestead Blog Hop#155”
I am actually about to write a blog post about using essential oils and aromatherapy to help deal with depression. I also use a blend when I have a headache and when I am going to sleep. I won’t use air fresheners anymore. I trust the ingredients they use in them! Thanks for sharing with HHGN!!
