It’s summertime and we want to look extra lean and lovely, don’t we?
It doesn’t help that the cover models on all of the health, fitness and fashion
magazines I subscribe to, look especially fit and fabulous in their swimsuits
and revealing summer shorts.
Plus, the reflection in the mirror is just not measuring up to my fitness fantasy.
And “Yikes!” my flight to Rio de Janeiro is just 3 weeks away!
So what’s a girl to do?
For me this means increasing the length and intensity of my workouts and
adjusting my diet to boost weight loss.
I have been reading The Virgin Diet Cookbook so I was inspired by some of her
high protein smoothie recipes to create this healthy and delicious, plant-based
“Hot Body, High Protein Vegan Smoothie.
I added RAW Fit Raw Vegan Protein Powder to my fruit and coconut milk base because
it is a USDA Certified Organic, RAW, plant-based vegan high-protein powder that is an easy
way to increase my protein intake.
It has a mild, slightly sweet flavor that mixes great with your favorite food or beverage and
contains RAW, organic and clinically studied ingredients to help you burn fat, maintain healthy
blood sugar, boost your energy, lose weight and look great!
Proteins are the building blocks of our bodies and are necessary for proper growth and to build
and repair tissues.
We use protein to make all enzymes, hormones, and numerous other vital body chemicals such as
hemoglobin in the blood.
They are made up of amino acids which are considered the building blocks of bones, muscles,
cartilage, skin, blood, hair, fingernails, serum albumin, keratin, and collagen
As a vegan, I have been adding hemp powder protein, flaxseeds, and moringa leaf powder to my
smoothies to up the protein and nutritional benefits.
Still, I felt like I needed a bit more protein for this summer weight loss challenge, so I researched
products and chose RAW Fit Raw Vegan Protein Powder in order to:
*Support healthy blood sugar levels and burn fat naturally with the power of Svetol Green
Coffee Bean Extract, RAW Food Created Chromium, Organic Cinnamon, and Organic Sprouted Grains
*Help regulate my cortisol levels and manage stress related cravings with RAW Organic
Ashwagandha
*Build lean muscle mass, help repair it after work-outs and sustain it on a sensible meal plan
with 28g of RAW certified organic plant protein–a complete protein with 13 organic sprouts and a
biological value of 98.2%!
*Feel full and satisfy hunger with RAW Organic Soluble and Insoluble Fiber from certified
organic grains, seeds, legumes and fruits
*Promote healthy and comfortable digestion and elimination with live probiotics and
enzymes
I chose a raw source because high heat can denature proteins, reducing their availability to
your body.
I also like the fact the this pro produced without any added fillers or carriers (like maltodextrin
which can come from GMO corn), preserving their complete amino acid integrity and whole-food,
Certified Organic, Non-GMO goodness.
Best of all this protein powder is Vegan, Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Soy Free!
Ready for your smoothie?
Let’s get started!
Hot Body, High Protein Vegan Smoothie
Ingredients
1 packet RAW Fit Raw Vegan Protein Powder
2 tablespoons Hemp Protein Powder
2 tablespoons Flaxseed Powder
2 tablespoons Chia Seeds
1 teaspoon Moringa Leaf Powder
1 cup organic Strawberries
1 cup organic Blueberries
10 ounces unsweetened Coconut Milk
1 tablespoon raw Almond Butter
1/2 filtered water or 6 filtered water ice cubes
Directions
Add all of the ingredients above to your high-speed blender (I use a VitaMix).
Blend on a high speed until smooth.
Taste your smoothie.
If you need additional sweetness you can add a little organic stevia–liquid or
powder and blend again.
You can thin your smoothie with a little cold, filtered watered, if needed.
Pour your high protein smoothie into a glass or mason jar.
Drink up and enjoy!
This recipe made enough for 3 cups so I drank a glass and refrigerated the balance
in a mason jar to drink a little later.

This sounds so yummy! Diet is such an important part of being healthy. You are so smart to not only extend your workout but also focus on what you’re eating. Sometimes I can be counter productive by working out hard and then snacking…
have fun in Rio De Janeiro!
This sounds SO yummy! How long are you going to be in Rio? I may *fingers crossed*be there for a week in September. I’d love to hear about your trip 🙂 #wowlinkup
Hi Catherine,
We’re on a 15 day trip with 5 days in Rio right on Copacabana beach so you know I have good motivation to look decent at that beach! I plan to blog from Rio. Look out for photos! Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me. I appreciate it.
How did it taste? World traveler – must be nice. One day for me when the kids get older. 🙂 #wowlinkup
Hi Diatta,
This shake is not very sweet but it is filling and holds me. I added fresh berries and organic stevia for added sweetness. The good thing is that I am not hungry and I feel like I am getting essential nutrients.
Love it! It sounds refreshing and lovely. I’m digging the coconut milk – I don’t add that to my smoothies enough – it really lends a much creamier texture than almond milk.
Looking forward to hearing about your travels when you come back =)
Thanks for sharing this over at Healthy Vegan Fridays! I have Pinned your recipe to our Pinterest Board.
Hi Kimmy,
I find that this recipe really gives me the energy and stamina I need to eat less yet move more. I don’t feel the cravings I used to have. And that’s a good thing!
MMMMM this sounds so good! I could even just have it without the fruits!!! 🙂
Thank you, GiGi!! It really helps to curb my cravings for all of the yummy stuff that I should not eat!
One thing I have missed since I started a plant based diet is protein shakes. I didn’t know the first place to start looking for vegan options. Thanks for the information! I’m pinning for future reference and planning on trying this vegan protein powder soon!
I add organic shelled hemp seeds to my non-dairy shake every morning! I love the nutty flavor and the extra 10g of plant protein. Pinned. =)
I think I would cut back on the caloric content of this smoothie by putting 1/2 cup of the berries. Do you think that would work or would we have to add less coconut milk? #wowlinkup
this smoothie looks awazing Thanks for linking up to Pin Worthy Wednesday, I have pinned your post to the Pin Worthy Wednesday Pinterest Board.
Hi Keitha,
Yes, this is one of my fave smoothie recipes. It is very nutritious yet light!
