I have always loved the taste of chocolate, but until recently I never bothered to explore the
addition of cacao powder to my daily smoothies and puddings.
However, once I bought the ingredients needed to make a chocolate chia pudding—
which turned out great–I had more cacao powder left over, so I decided to use it in a smoothie.
Sure, raw cacao tastes bitter, but adding fruits to your smoothie recipe sweetens the flavor.
It tastes great blended with bananas, oranges, mangoes, peaches, pears and dates, for example.
It’s Super Good!
Many consider cacao the ultimate superfood–that’s because it can be so good for you–when
prepared in healthy ways and used in moderation.
Famed for being a mood-enhancer, raw chocolate contains a variety of nutrients which help
support the heart, brain, pancreas, liver, skin, digestion and immune systems.
Cacao also helps build strong bones and healthy blood.
Best of all, cacao delivers a powerful dose of antioxidants including polyphenols, catechins,
epicatechins and flavanoids–more antioxidants by weight than blueberries, acai, goji berries,
pomegranates and red wine, combined.
Cacao is a good source of healthy fat plus an assortment of important vitamins and minerals
including magnesium, iron, chromium, manganese, zinc, copper, anandamide, theobromine,
phosphorus, calcium.vitamin C, Omega-6 fatty acids, phenethylamine and tryptophan.

Sip slowly and savor the flavor as well as the burst of energy from all of the good nutrients
in this superfood smoothie.
It’s like a meal in a glass!

Hi Carla,
This recipe makes about 6 cups. Thank you for sharing your comments with me. I appreciate it!
I don’t have some of the ingredients, however, I have mangos, bananas, and cacao powder. I think I can come up with something basic, though not quite the power house of nutrition yours is!
Hi Barb,
That’s what is so great about smoothies. You can improvise them based upon what you have on hand in the house. That’s what I usually do! Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me. I appreciate it.

I know I am a strange bird – I can’t eat chocolate mixed with too many other things. I can only take it alone. Strange huh? This does sound delish though. #wowlinkup
