10 Healthy, Green & Natural Ways to Pamper Your Valentine and Say I Love You

10 Healthy, Green & Natural Ways to Pamper Your Valentine and Say I Love You

When my sweetie told me that he was treating me to a holistic spa treatment for Valentine’s Day,

I knew he was the one!

What better to show someone your love than to help them look and feel healthy, happy and relaxed.

As you know, the term “holistic” (or “wholistic”) refers to the integrated interaction between the

functioning parts of a whole.

Valentine’s Day is a wonderful time to show some special how much you care by embracing the

concept of  heart, mind, and body.

10 Healthy, Green & Natural Ways to Pamper Your Valentine and Say I Love You

How do I love thee? Let me count the healthy, green and natural ways…

So here are a few loving ideas for a holistic Valentine’s Day beginning with my favorites!

#1. Share Holistic Spa Treatments

Go to a holistic spa for a treatment, or buy such a treatment for your significant other.

You could also go to a holistic spa together.

At a holistic spa, you will receive a massage of some sort–some spas offer aromatherapy massages

with soothing essential oils, shiatsu massage and herbal wraps.

Some spas offer organic facials and other pampering, romantic treatments perfect for couples.

#2. Gift Natural, Homemade Beauty Aids

Give your significant other some homemade beauty aids, like a salt scrub or flax seed hair gel

(mix 1 tablespoon flax seeds with 1 cup water, warm for 2-4 minutes, steep for at least an hour,

then strain).

#3. Create a Scentual Environment

Natural essential oils can help set the mood with pure scents.

Use these instead of artificially-scented candles or other synthetic smells.

Ecofriendly candles help set the mood on Valentine’s Day.

#4. Set the Mood with Natural, Nontoxic Candles

Candles help set the mood on Valentine’s Day, whether it’s for a special meal or just time

In keeping with the holistic theme, use soy candles that are more environmentally

responsible and non-toxic.

#5. Create a Healthy, Romantic Meal

Show your love with a healthy a romantic meal for two with local, organic food.

A holistic philosophy embraces humanity’s connection to nature, and organic food,

with its respect for natural methods and the environment, supports that idea.

#6. Give Organic, Fair Trade Chocolate

What is Valentine’s Day without chocolate? Look for Fair Trade organic chocolate.

What is Valentine’s Day without chocolate? Look for Fair Trade organic chocolate.

Organic chocolate is holistic and appropriate for this romantic holiday.

Look for Fair Trade organic chocolate.

Consider raw chocolate “nibs” or prepared organic chocolates.

#7. Make Healthy, Organic, Vegan Treats

Speaking of homemade, make your own Valentine’s treats that are healthy and holistic.

Dip strawberries in organic chocolate, make homemade fudge with organic cocoa and natural

sugar, or bake a special vegan cake or cookies with whole, organic ingredients.

Make your own pink icing with natural, vegan, organic ingredients to make it more festive.

#8. Green Your Cards

Purchase Valentine’s cards made from recycled paper, or make your own.

Get creative and use scrap paper, or make your own paper from old newspapers

that have been shredded, soaked, and blended into pulp.

Roses may be traditional gifts, but cut roses are rather wasteful.
Give a live rose bush instead.

#9. Make Conscience Plant Choices

Roses may be traditional gifts, but cut roses are rather wasteful.

Give a live rose bush instead–the miniature, potted roses look very pretty and can

be kept in a container or planted in the garden in the spring.

Edible bouquets made of healthy fruit are another holistic option.

And many people would like to receive a live plant as a gift– consider an indoor

plant that will enhance air quality, or a tree seedling that can be planted in the spring.

#10. Set the Mood with the Right Music

Peaceful, romantic music is part of a holistic Valentine’s celebration.

Look for music that really sets the mood and encourages a natural, peaceful atmosphere.

Of course, these are just a few healthy, green and natural ways to pamper your Valentine.

What are your favorite healthy, green and natural ways to show your Valentine

you care?

Love these tips! I took my son on a pre-Valentine’s day “mommy son date” yesterday, and I treated him to his first aqua-massage. He LOVED it… giggled hysterically the whole time! I hope I can continue to instill in him that V-day can be more than just about the candy. 😉

Will you be my Valentine? Hahaha I kid, but these are spectacular ideas. My sister once made cupcakes and used beets to make the icing the most beautiful shade of hot pink. That would be a great Valentine’s day dessert idea. I personally always prefer a houseplant over a bouquet of flowers. I love nurturing and caring for my plants and they return the favor by improving the air quality in my home.

Dear Deborah, Great blog about pampering your valentine that I pinned. Just getting to see this after V-Day. It affirms things that I do to make life with my Valentine special all year. I believe love needs to be recognized and celebrated every day. Don’t you agree? Belated V-Day wishes dear one and have a “lovely” day today!
